Blackmagic Design has unveiled the 8.6 Beta software update for its Pocket Cinema Camera 6K, including the Pro model and Cinema Camera 6K. This update introduces advanced networking support, a new media pool file browser, and enhanced connectivity features.

One of the standout features of the 8.6 Beta update is the networking support, which allows for the uploading of proxies and original media directly to the Blackmagic Cloud. This integration facilitates easy file sharing, making it easier for creatives to work together, regardless of each member’s actual location.

This camera update also adds a new media pool file browser, which helps streamline workflow by providing an intuitive interface for managing files directly on the camera.

The update also includes support for mobile phone tethering via USB-C. If you have either the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 6K or Cinema Camera 6K, you can now connect your camera to the internet by means of your mobile phone, thus enabling direct access to the Blackmagic Cloud. This feature is particularly beneficial if you do need to manage your files remotely or upload footage while on the move.

It may seem overkill, but the update also enables you to use the camera as a high-quality webcam via USB-C after the update.

The Blackmagic Camera 8.6 Beta software update boosts the functionality and flexibility of the Pocket Cinema Camera and Cinema Camera 6K models.
