Panasonic Lumix GX80/GX85
This 16Mp Micro Four Thirds camera has a snappy AF system and captures plenty of detail. As the images in our 30 second Panasonic GX80 review show, it also delivers good quality results.
30 second Panasonic GX80 review…
The GX80, known as the Panasonic GX85 in the US, is a rangefinder-style Micro Four Thirds compact system camera with 16 million effective pixels on its Four Thirds type sensor. The 3-inch touch-sensitive screen is very responsive and provides a clear view when you’re not using the built-in 2,764,000-dot viewfinder – which also gives very good service.
Although the AF system can’t quite match the speed of a top-end SLR’s it puts in a decent performance and we were able to get sharp images of performers from the pit of a music festival at night. Meanwhile Panasonic’s excellent 4K Photo mode is available to help you capture fleeting moments as 8Mp stills shot at 30 frames per second.
Image quality is also good, with a nice level of detail and generally natural colour in the default settings – though the Daylight white balance option is recommended if the sun is shining.
